Two years ago I redesigned a baking product to help the home baker simplify her baking experience. I was baking cakes for friends and family - a lot, and as "Martha" continuously spoke of the benefits of using parchment paper to line the baking pans with, of course I followed! *Using parchment basically elliminates the need to grease and flour cake pans. After about 6-months of tracing and cutting uncoopporitive parchment paper rolls (I litterally was like 'Lucille Ball' wrestling with the rolling-up parchment rolls in my kitchen!)and never having 'perfect' circles, I set out to find them pre-cut. After searching online (the price was too high) and then my city, I found them at one supply store. I was so excited! I got them home, placed them in my pan and would you believe, they didn't fit. They were too big - you still had to cut to make them fit even though they said they were for 9-inch round pans! UGH!
I, of course, had my "ah-ha" moment and thought, "I can make these better"! So I did. Thus the birth of Sutton Parchment Co. and my 9-inch Precut Parchment Baking Rounds.
Our rounds fit all 9-inch round pans. They are made with a *silicone-treated parchment paper (most are made with a vegetable oil treated paper)which gives greater release and more even baking as well as prevents burning.
My package design is very chic (French Country)and seals shut, rather than stapled like the other. I use my baking rounds for just about everything I don't want a mess on, such as cakes, small pizzas, a small batch of cookies, fish, chicken nuggets, etc. I use the rounds a lot on top of my pizza stone-which I cook just about everything on!
We have won two awards with the rounds and were in Southern Living Octobet 2007. It has been so exciting and rewarding to see a vision and hard work come full circle.
We are about to come out with a new product and should have it on the market by the end of August or first of Sept. It will revolutionize the *CUPCAKE* industry!! I can not wait. It has taken two years and a lot of hard work, tears, disappointments - yet through it all, never once 'quiting' or giving up. I can not wait for you all to see it!
