- Nicol Akins (marathoner, wife and mother of two) is the founder and manager of DiRTY ReD Gear "Athletic Wear for Women". Dirty Red Gear
has been up and running for nearly 2 years. Dirty Red Gear sells sport bras, performance tanks, t-shirts, shorts, skorts and workout pants just to name a few!

Currently, the hottest seller for Dirty Red are the running skorts, double bra and their long sleeve cotton graphic t-shirts! Nicol's background includes collegiate and independent track and field. Nicol is listed as one of the top Big 12 runners for the University of MO-Columbia. Nicol graduated with a degree in Apparel Manufacturing and Design.
Akins’ early design work, professional experience in the fashion industry, and love for running and sports led her to create DiRTY ReD- a company devoted to fitness and women through its’ athletic wear.
“Life is the ultra marathon,” said Akins. “No matter how you approach it, your clothes should be able to hang with you.”

Why the name "Dirty Red"? According to my mother-in-law, my husband would have these little temper tantrums (which were rare) but when he did, he would turn bright red and she would call him "Lil Dirty Red"! When designing the line, that kept playing in my head over and over . . . I had to go with it!

- Women and women who are Mothers hold A LOT of power in their hands. Yes, our children can and will change the world but it starts with US and the influence we have on our children. Live your life wisely and to the BEST of your ability. You never know what you have created that will influence our future.
- What makes you hybrid?
- What makes me a hybrid? Well, let's see, my husband, girls, owning my own business, the PTA, the Church, my running groups and everyone else's activities before mine! I would not have it any other way!
