Profile Information

About Me:
I am a Mom, a marathoner, a designer, an entrepreneur. I have one daughter and four children with fur! I am @sugarsprouts on Twitter. Check it out - it is VERY cool and a great place to meet other Moms!!
From one mom to another, my words of wisdom are:
Listen to all advice and then make your own decision.

And if you don't learn to laugh at life, it will sneak up and bite you in the ass!
What makes you hybrid?
I am a Mom, I am training for a marathon, I work part-time out of my home and part-time in my home, I volunteer, I take care of many pets, and I even try to cook (HA!). I never thought I'd be a Mom so that comes FIRST, but the other parts that make me hybrid help me to be a better Mom

Cat Vomit and Other Grossness

So, we’re finally moving. The big day has arrived. As I pack, paint, and dream about life in a larger, newer, safer, nicer, fresher and more open house I reach for something that has fallen behind the bookcase.

And I touch…

Cat vomit.
Now, I realize that you find strange and sundry things when you move. A stray sock here, an old wrapper there, a toy, a broken remote. But cat vomit. Behind a bookcase. A bookcase that to my knowledge has never been away from the wall.

OK, I love my cats. I real… Continue

The Lives We Lead

Ah, the lives we lead.

Do you ever wake up and wonder where you are? Not in a bad way, but in a weird dream-induced coma kinda way that makes you lay there for a few minutes. In wonder. In a calm sense of joy.

Then the cat jumps on your very full bladder, and you feel like you’re gonna explode with pee. Then as he nimbly leaps away, his claws dig cruelly into your belly and all bets are off. The day takes a tumble for the chasm looming below normal life. And you start to almost enjoy wallowing… Continue

Cowgirl, Hippie, Naturalist

So, I have been told I confuse people. I sometimes feel like I’m a little Donny and a little Marie.

I turn off the water while I brush my teeth. I recycle pretty much everything, and even bring scraps of paper home from work to recycle. I compost. I buy organic. I would love to have the money to own a Prius. I support the Democratic Party but believe they have gone too mainstream, too center. I am not that politically active, but I hav… Continue

I've Beat this Drum, But Better a Drum than a Kid

Violence to a child is still violence. And it sucks.

I know I have spent a long blog post on this topic already, but it pisses me off and breaks my heart at the same time. Here goes…

A woman in our play group was going on about how appalled she was about something that happened to her friend the other day. Not realizing which party in the story was her friend I was at first confused, and then put my size ten foot in my mouth. Then I thought better of it… Continue

A Mountain Lion and Me

I started training again, marathon training that is. It was a tough decision. I was getting used to having more time at home to chill out after ten days skipped. But I went the other day, and then again today. Beat the heat and got my butt out there before sun-up.

And then, second day back, I saw tracks. Uh, huh. Tracks. Not little bunny rabbit tracks. No, the maker of these tracks would have had that

I will pray for your cousin and his daughter. How is she doing? I'm sorry to hear that happened. I didn't know that could even happen. Thanks for letting us know about it and asking for prayer. -Lisa

That would be cool. I have not worked with cafe press, only zazzle. I may need your guidance in getting it set up, but would love to do something like that...let me know.

I'm hoping to catch up on reading your blogs tonight and writing a few, myself. Oh, how I wish I had a few extra hours a day!

Thank you for reaching out. I don't think I'm going to be an active reader/writer on this, or any other, net. I do like to dabble in occasionally but there are so many many things to get done, to do, to create, that too much time living vicariously through others starts to make me wriggle in my seat. I enjoyed leafing quickly through your blogs. Regards, Wendy

I'll get working on it during nap-time tomorrow... is it OK if I backlink back to my site in a few (not obnoxious) locations?

I watched your slide show - I really need to learn to post one. You boys are adorable. I do NOT know how you handle three. You must be a total Super Mom!
