A native Jersey Girl, Liz is a first generation American. Her parents immigrated from Hungary to New Jersey in 1956. An avid genealogist, Liz is very thankful that her grandmother chose to teach her how to speak, read and write in Hungarian. She met her husband, Garth (not his real name) on a blind date at one of the last drive-in theaters in New Jersey, where she cried through nearly the entire second half of The Dead Poet's Society. She tried to give him back the handkerchief he loaned her, but he told her to keep it. They were engaged 4 months, later and both are totally amazed to think they will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary in 2 years.
A stay-at-home Mom since 1993 (an oxymoron, really, since she's in her car more than she is at home) Liz enjoys writing about the trials and tribulations of raising four children (ages 14, 12, 9 and 6) a rambunctious mostly chocolate lab and killer dust bunnies. This Full House was voted one of the Top 100 Mom Blogs by Mother’s Day Central and Liz is a featured mom blogger for Wondertime.com and Alltop.com.
From one mom to another, my words of wisdom are:
Having children doesn't automatically make someone an expert on motherhood — being a good mother takes time, patience, and the ability to forgive mistakes. You will make them and that's okay, too. I would have enjoyed their baby years more, if I had appreciated the simple things like, not be too concerned about what clothes they wear as much as taking the time to enjoy their tiny little naked feet and hands, or correcting baby talk and then learning just how much I will miss it all, one day!
