- About Me:
- I am the mom of a 3.7 year old and a 2.5 year old. I adore them. My partner and I made a deal with God and/or the Devil whoever would answer us first to adopt them. We now have 2 rockin' boys and I have a rockin' partner. We both say to each other often "I wouldn't do this with anybody but YOU!" We parent equally and give each other a rest based on who needs it more.
My blog is mostly a creative outlet for me at the end of the day. Although some of my advice is tried and true, and has been handed down to me by very reliable, no-nonsence moms that have already been there and seen that! I did not create this to be a complaint outlet. There are so many other blogs for that. I believe that negativity breeds negativity, and that support and love breeds support and love.
I consider myself more conservative then most when it comes to parenting, and more liberal then most when it come to life.
We moved two toddlers, a dog and a cat, yes all one plane, from L.A. to a bedroom community in N.Y. It's been the best decision and the most challenging experience of my life....literally.
This became a way of finding something that is all mine, when I started to feel invisible after taking care of everyone's needs except my own. Obviously meeting my children's needs are my priority, it still takes a toll on my spirit that sometimes I just don't have the time or energy to take care of.
- From one mom to another, my words of wisdom are:
- 1)Parenting Ain't For Sissies....don't do it alone!
2)You're the parent!....
3)Do your best not to yell and to remain calm....will we hit the mark every day?....no.
4)When all else fails put on a clean, no sex, movie while folding laundry....after calling your best friend or favorite cousin crying....
5)You can expect their behavior, but you don't have to tolerate it....
6)Instead of talking to your children about what could we will try harder at tomorrow, end the day with what they did well that day....
When traditional discipline methods aren't working, get creative....

Are M&Ms the breakfast of champions?....
NO, of course not! I doubt that anyone reading this would disagree with me, at least I hope.
However, we had a container of potty treat M&Ms. I was cooking breakfast and they were playing in their playroom so nice and quite. After the split second thought of "wow they must have slept great last night!" Came a parents gut feeling #1.
Then it hit. "mommy, we just had a pic-nic in the play room" "with what?" "the M&Ms" My day flashed before my eyes. Too much sugar, too much energy, poor l… Continue

Are we as busy as we think we are, or busier then most?....
Sometimes no. I'm sure this statement will annoy a lot of moms, and I can't say what brought this thought on.
Recently I've been looking outside of my life's "box". Let's start with my partner. It's not uncommon for her to leave the house at 5:00 a.m. and not make it home until 8:30 or 9:00 p.m., check on the kids and give them kisses and hugs even though they're already sleeping.
A friend of mine is so committed to her career, and the people that she works with, that it's not uncommon for her… Continue

Is it true that by your third child you let them play with knives?....
"....letting them play with knives" is a saying that a friend of mine quotes, and it's also the topic of jokes at the playground. Endless stories of how we wouldn't let our first child enter the fresh air outside of our house until he was 6 weeks old. Granted he did spend his first 10 days in the NICU....but whatever. When our second baby was born, we took him to the beach at seven DAYS old. He slept like only a baby can with the ocean breeze blowing on him, the sand washed off that night in the… Continue

Is it as realistic as I think to have bittersweet days?....
It has been one long week! Without the energy or time for my favorite creative outlet....okay some may say creative, some may not. But in my opinion, my posts have GOT to be better then reading posts titled "what coffee are you addicted to today?" So work with me here since I'm an amateur. Cruel or hysterical parenting?....
In regards to my earlier post, Murphy's Law, when our boys were put to bed directly after dinner there was the usual opening and closing of doors combined with "come in here, no you come in here."
Time outs have been decreasing, thank god, and I think that a time out during bedtime is not exactly discipline. It's more of a bedtime delay.
