“I relaunch”, as in I was out of work for a period of time and now would like, or need, to go back to work. MyWorkButterfly.com had the great pleasure of being a media sponsor for the recent iRelaunch conference held this past week at Seton Hall University. I learned much that day from the founders of iRelaunch, Carol and Vivian, and from the corporate participants: Morgan Stanley, Accenture and Goldman Sachs representatives, all of whom embrace many of you who are return-to-work moms. Carol and…

It’s the Swine Flu issue that nobody is discussing — but important to 58 million at-risk American kids. “Is vaccination safe or not?” is NOT the question. Tens of million of kids are at increased risk of catching H1N1 and other nasties due to
vitamin deficiency. Is your child one of them? Today I’ll show you how to successfully avoid the flu -- naturally.…

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year- what a bonus for working moms! No need to race home from work to take your children door to door. No need to feel guilty that you can't make it home until past dark. Halloween is on Saturday this year- what a wonderful thing! My son is of the age where he thinks it's hysterical to dress up like a cheerleader and actually convinced me to buy him the outfit. Pom poms and all. My daughter, on the other hand, had her mind set on being Hannah Montana which mea…

Krysta is stranded on the magical island during a thunderstorm when her hot air balloon was punctured by Milo the hummingbird. On the island she finds a castle filled with statues of her and with her name engraved on the door. She now finds herself surrounded by talking animals that learn from her and teach her as well. A wondrous place where her best friend - Rex the Teddy Bear came to life. Kind-hearted Krysta loves all the animals, to teach them not only to spell, count, but to cook and explo…

Would it shock you to learn that American companies haven't kept up with the changes in today's workforce or with their families? We think not. On October 16th, this little known fact became official as the Center for American Progress and Maria Shriver released “The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Changes Everything.” This release reveals that, "For the first time in our nation’s history, one-half of all U.S. workers are women, and mothers are the primary breadwinners or co-breadwinners in two…

My grandmother was a breast cancer survivor. She had a mastectomy at a time when I was too young to even understand what that meant. I am now 38 and acutely aware of what it means as we honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My grandmother outlived her cancer, dying of natural causes, and I know many of you who are taking care of your elders or dear friends are praying for the same outcome.
Not too long ago we were introduced to a few remarkable women who created the TNBC foundation in honor of a…

While there are many trends to discuss this year, what makes the top of the trend list will be the price! The Toy Insider list that’s posted here does not have a single toy over $100….and many are under $30. As parents, we will not disappoint our kids for the holidays. There’s nothing better than the excitement when our children are ripping open their gifts. I remember when my oldest (now 19) was little….every time she opened a gift she would say “I always wanted this my whole life”, and my husb…

Did you ever think why the company media representatives and the brand equity managers keep staking and lay emphasis about the essentiality of owning a professional logo design to march on? Is the build up of hype about having custom design logo warranted?
It sounds pretty much explainable, doesn’t it? A logo of a company is the character of the organization which marks its unique identity. There are many competitors of your business around you very near but what really signifies you is your ou…

Embracing our new world!!
As a mom of three teenage girls, I have my own internal battle with the technology that fills our kids lives. On one hand….it’s amazing!! Our connections to each other, how our kids do homework and stay in touch, the information that comes to us at an astounding speed by a few key strokes. This is what our children are growing up with! But for many, this new world leaves much to be desired. I love when my entire family eats together (rare…rarer now that my oldest is in…

MyWorkButterfly.com, has conducted a National Mom’s Survey and we thank those of you who have taken the time to complete it. The idea was/is to learn more about you, as moms and to design the most resourceful site to fit your needs. What we learned from a large majority of you is that GUILT is the number one obstacle preventing you from returning to work. In response, we asked Julie Potischman, Butterfly's resident psychotherapist the…

There seems to be quite a buzz out there about the homework coming, er, home with your kindergartners. So how much homework does your child get? Is it too much? Do you (and they) groan when it’s time to do homework?
Read more, including quotes from the experts...and comment, of course! Continue

My nine-year old asked, "Mom, do you think I can play in the NFL one day?" A huge smile came across my face because you have to know that my son is only 65 pounds, wet. "You can do anything you put your mind to. Dream big," I told him. I too loved sports as a kid, softball being my forte. And while I still continue to play the sport in a local women's town league, I am no Kim Clijsters. Terry my biz partner, having played tennis as a child, had a much better shot at mastering the game of tennis…

I do hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day, a holiday that originated in Canada out of labor disputes in the 1870's... who knew? Funny how these disputes press on some 200 years later as I remind you of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act recently passed by Obama.
Although, I can't say I was in much of a celebratory mood this Labor Day as I absorbed the news of the recent death of Ted Kennedy and a lesser known, DJ AM. Loved him or hated him as a politician, Ted Kennedy leaves behind five kids and a…
