A Mixed Bag--Toddler Thumbs Up, Husband Thumbs Down

Hi, I'm Leah Segedie, Chief Mom of Operations of Bookieboo, a social site for moms into fitness, weight loss and healthy living. I was chosen to write about my experiences with The Six O'Clock Scramble and here is my third report.

Tonight I made Italian Sausage Linguine with Grated Carrots. It's another low-fat recipe including brussel sprouts and whole wheat bread. I had to make a couple of adjustments to the recipe. Instead of regular linguine, the only linguine I could find that day was Italian basil linguine, big mistake...that was something my husband hated. The recipe also calls for Italian chicken sausage, onions, carrots, oregano, and canned tomatoes. It's a great marinara sauce, but with an added bonus of grated carrots, which I though was a nice touch and sweetened things up. The brussel sprouts are covered with olive oil, salt & pepper and put in the stove for 20 minutes.

Well, my husband hated it. He said something to the effect of "this isn't even edible...oh, wait, I'm talking about their recipe, not your cooking...uhhh, I love you honey." I have to tell you that my husband is one of the pickiest eaters you will ever meet. He'll try things if I cook them, but that doesn't mean he's going to eat them. He hated the chicken sausage, flavored linguine noodles, and the sauce. My son was licking it up and saying "yummy mommy." Except for the brussel sprouts, but no one likes brussel sprouts.

Well, I had two hits in a row, it was only a matter of time before my husband found something he didn't like.
