It's Two for Two--Curly Noodle Delight Not so Delightful

Hi, I'm Leah Segedie, Chief Mom of Operations of Bookieboo, a social site for moms into fitness, weight loss, and healthy living. I was chosen by Hybrid Mom to share with you my experiences with the Six O'Clock Scramble and I'm here with my fourth report.

Tonight we did Curly Noodle Delight, another low-fat recipe. I just have to warn you before I start that I'm pregnant and am set off very easily by smells and my husband is the pickiest eater in the world. Okay, now that I've given you my surgeon general's warning, I have to admit that this recipe was not one of my favorites. It involves four bags of top ramen noodles, frozen vegetables, mushrooms, water cresnuts, oyster sauce, low sodium soysauce, and honey. Top Ramen noodles not the healthiest of options, but I ate so much of them in college that I figured how could things go wrong.

My son actually said to me, "mommy, don't like it, want cereal." Well, I don't know exactly why this happened. It could have been my husband saying it was awful and was looking forward to cereal. But this was the first time my son has ever communicated to me that he didn't like something I was feeding him. Was it a milestone in his development or was he copying his father? I'm not sure what the answer to that is. Maybe a little bit of both.

I wasn't too fond of it either. But I'm not the best of critics, because lately anything can set me off. But the worst part was the tummy ache I've had. I think the stomach ache is due to the Top Ramen. That stuff could last a nuclear war and outlive the cockroaches. If you decide to recreate this recipe, I would use less oyster sauce than the recipe calls for and more honey. The sauce tasted funny, so something was a little off. But again, pregnant, who knows.

My picker eater husband and, God, let's hope not soon-to-be picky eater son gave a thumbs down.

I think the sauce needed more honey and less oyster sauce.
